About TeamUp

TeamUp is class and membership booking software from TeamUp Sports, Inc., a DaySmart company. Its pricing page and help center are clear about leaving. Its Terms of Service (last revised February 14, 2023) are written for a marketplace and are less specific.

Contract, data and payments

Contract term

TimetableOS

No long-term contract. A paid plan renews for the period you have paid for, and you can cancel any time from your account settings. It ends when that paid period ends.

TeamUp

TeamUp says there is no contract: month to month, cancel any time without penalties.
“There is no contract or long-term commitment with TeamUp. We offer a flexible, month-to-month subscription, so you can use TeamUp on your terms. If you ever decide to cancel, you can do so at any time without penalties.”

Notice to leave

TimetableOS

No notice period to leave beyond the period you have paid for. We give at least 30 days' notice before we change fees.

TeamUp

TeamUp asks for at least 7 days' notice to process the cancellation.
“There's no fixed cancellation period for TeamUp itself, but we do require at least 7 days notice to process the cancellation on our end.”

Cost of leaving early

TimetableOS

Our Terms contain no early termination fee. You pay for the period you have paid for, and it ends there.

TeamUp

TeamUp says you can cancel at any time without penalties.

How you cancel

TimetableOS

Cancel from your account settings, or by writing to us.

TeamUp

Cancelling is a self-service form in settings. It raises a ticket for the team to close the account.
“To cancel your account, head to Settings ➜ Subscription Fees ➜ Cancel Account and complete the cancellation form.”

Getting your data out

TimetableOS

Export your members, memberships, invoices, bookings, check-ins, sales and leads as a ZIP of CSV files whenever you like while your account is open. Do it before you close the account: we keep data for a limited period after that, then delete it.

TeamUp

TeamUp's leaving guide lists CSV exports of customers, memberships and invoices, and does not mention a fee.
“Customer reports - head to Customers ➜ Export Filtered List ➜ CSV for a full list of your customer details.”

Who owns the data

TimetableOS

You own the data you put in. Our Terms say so.

TeamUp

TeamUp's Terms of Service (2023) say TeamUp and the studio are each independent data controllers for customer data. We did not find a clause on who owns the studio's data.
“We are each independent “data controllers” for the data related to customers, and so we each have our own separate responsibilities for ensuring that payer data is protected legally and technically.”

Payments

TimetableOS

Member payments go through your studio's own payment account. We do not hold your funds.

TeamUp

TeamUp says it does not charge a fee for using payment gateways and that money goes straight to your account. Its 2023 Terms of Service also describe TeamUp collecting registration fees on a provider's behalf and paying out on the 15th and 30th of each month, so ask which applies.
“TeamUp don't charge or take any fee for the use of payment gateways”
“TeamUp shall remit payments due to you hereunder on the fifteenth (15th) and thirtieth (30th) day of each calendar month”

Setup and extra fees

TimetableOS

The fees shown to you when you sign up, or agreed with us in writing. We give at least 30 days' notice before we change fees.

TeamUp

TeamUp says there is no setup fee and that data import is free. Text messages have a monthly minimum spend, and the custom branded app and Marketing Suite are paid add-ons.
“There is no setup fee for your business.”

Where TeamUp may suit you better

Moving over from TeamUp

  1. Export

    Take your data out

Ask your current provider for a member and payment history export while your account is still open. Many providers remove access when you cancel.

  2. Import

    Bring it in

Use the import centre to load members, memberships, the timetable, products, gift cards, leads, payment history and attendance. Check a batch, and undo it if it is wrong.

  3. Go live

    Switch when you are ready

Run both side by side while you check the numbers. Set up your plans, classes and payments, then move your members across.

Questions

Is TeamUp month to month?

Its pricing page says there is no contract or long-term commitment and that you can cancel at any time without penalties. Its help center says it asks for at least 7 days' notice to process the cancellation.

Can I move my members from TeamUp to us?

Yes. Export your members, memberships and payment history from TeamUp while your account is still open, then load them with the import centre. A batch can be checked and undone, so you can try it before you commit.

Do I own my data with us?

Yes. Our Terms say you own the data you put into the service. You can export it as CSV files whenever you like while your account is open. Export before you close the account, because we keep data for a limited period after that and then delete it.

Is there a long-term contract?

No. A paid plan renews for the period you have paid for and you can cancel any time from your account settings. It ends when that paid period ends. Our Terms contain no early termination fee, and we give at least 30 days' notice before changing fees.
